"We have the divine call to transform wood into a sacred space, a prayer place, a wood church in the Romanian traditional style to inspire people in their Christian faith. The Rustic quality is guaranteed for at least 100 years!" Cornel Cusner

Here in Maramures we have a long and specific tradition with wood churches. Based on this important legacy of our local culture, here at Rustic Baia Mare, Romania we take the raw wood and add an important spiritual value to it by transforming it into traditional wooden churches. In this field we have great joy with the churches we have built so far, works of art which honor us and also inspire us to continue this thousand years old local Christian tradition.

Some key landmarks in our wood church building experience

We have built 36 wood churches so far, many chapels and bell towers. They are being used by Christians all over Romania and Europe. The furthest one so far is located in Switzerland.

We had the great honor to build the first Romanian Orthodox church in the Vatican, as part of a temporary exhibition in the Vatican Museum in the honor of the Great Stephan (Stefan cel Mare), ruler of Moldavia in the 13th century;

The tallest church that we've built so far is 35 m;

Chapels

We build wood chapels in both interlocking beam structure and sandwich, as well as more conventional brick ones.
